Happiness Is Just Outside My Window

We often look for happiness in things, other people or foreign places.

We treat it as something that is so hard to get. Something that requires us to go through some kind of big life experience to decipher.

We think that if we can just crack the code, take calculated steps and move as fast as we can, we will find it sooner.

But what if we slowed down a little, and maybe even stopped trying so hard?

Would it mean losing out on a few things?

Maybe. But it would also give us a chance.

To observe what is going on around us.

To listen to those thoughts that we keep putting aside thinking that they don’t matter.

To face the insecurities that we may have.

To embrace the fear of not ending up at that place where we imagined

we would be 5 years ago.

At first, it would probably make you feel pretty bad. Awful even.

You’ll want to go back to the endless search that kept you so busy.

But what if you choose to keep standing there?

Eventually, you survive.

You begin to build a bridge.

Between you and between everything else that lies within you.

The light. The darkness.

That wall you built around yourself over time.

And one day, you find yourself on the other side.

And everything you once knew seems to have changed a little.

The light shines brighter. The darkness begins to fade away.

The walls crumble.

And you have no more reason to look outside.

Of course, it takes longer for you to get there.

And yes, it’s so much harder to wait than to just take advantage of the temporary moments of joy that are available everywhere.

But if I told you that that view from the other end of the bridge would be the most beautiful thing that you would probably ever see,

Isn’t it worth a shot?

So hold on. Stop chasing it. And you’ll see just how easy it is to find that reason to smile.

The Difference Between Then and Now

But the truth is, we all learnt it somewhere, in our own ways. How to be brave. How to not give up. How to appreciate the tiniest moments. (1)

Its always hard to sum up how much you have grown,

or how far you’ve come over the past year in words.

Think about it –

By now, you’ve learned so much more about yourself.

The things that matter the most to you.

Those that make you happy.

Where your passion lies,

And what your next goal is.

You seem to have it somewhat figured out already. You have a new plan.

A new vision.

And you’re ready to do whatever it takes to turn that into reality.

So you start to take a mental note.

Scribble on your board.

Re-focus all your energy.

Nothing can stop you now.

You can feel it.

And you start to believe in yourself,

a little more than you used to.

Because only you know your story.

Your journey will always be your biggest secret.

Because we as human beings never really find it easy to share

What we truly feel.

Or all that we have been through.

The world that surrounds us sees only a glimpse of it all.

They see your strength.

Your courage to take risks.

Your willingness to work hard.

Your gratitude for all that you have.

But the truth is, we all learned it somewhere, in our own ways.

How to be brave.

How to not give up.

How to appreciate the tiniest moments.

And as we did, we felt all kinds of emotions-

Happiness, pain, love, hope, and despair.

But you stand wherever you are today, because of one simple thing-

A choice.

To try harder. To challenge yourself.

To push through the times when days felt too long.

And nights where your thoughts kept you awake.

So when you look back and try to measure

The difference between then and now,

Remember this-

Maybe you’ve traveled a lot further from where you began.

Maybe you’re still taking baby steps and you haven’t made it to where you want to be.

But whatever it is between the two,

You made it here, and that’s all that matters.

And that’s what always will.

Take that chance.

Rather take every chance that you can get.

At something that you truly want.

Don’t let it pass by just because it wasn’t what you asked for.

Or because your’e afraid that you won’t be able to win at the end of the day.

Because the truth is that you can’t “always”.

You can’t always plan.

You can’t always succeed.

In fact, its just the opposite of all of that.

This journey that your’e on.

It was never meant to be painted in black and white.

There are no rules.

And the only boundaries that exist,

are the ones that you set.

Every time that you let yourself think that you can’t,

You stop yourself.

From growing.

From turning into someone who’s even stronger,

than the person that you see in the mirror everyday.

Stop trying to play safe.

Stop avoiding the path that seems so unfamiliar.

Because maybe taking it is the next step.

Maybe its the only way to end up having

everything that you dream of.

Its okay to not know.

Or even doubt yourself for a while.

Does that mean that your’e not tough enough?

No – not at all.

What it really means is that your’e at that point.

Where its all about to change.

Everything that you once knew.

Everything that you believe in.

Its time to question it.

Is it enough?

Are you happy with where you stand?

Do you have the courage to go further?

Is this truly what you want?

If it is, then go ahead.

Take that chance.

Even if it doesn’t make complete sense.

Even if it seems impossible.

Embrace the challenge and make a wish.

And who knows, it might just work.

Because miracles really do exist.

And life might just surprise you,

And you might discover something that nobody else has till now.

Like snowflakes in the sand.

Be brave. Be limitless.

Don’t settle.

Because every end could be a new beginning.

And that possibility is all that matters.

It’s Me – Life.

You’re in that moment – everything becomes clear.

You start to see things for what they really are.

You realize that what you’ve always truly wanted,

has been right in front of you this entire time.

And then, the obvious question comes into your head-

How did you not see that before?

You start to think. You think a lot.

Until you find a reason to blame yourself.

You believe that you could’ve done better.

That you probably didn’t give it your all.

That you didn’t fight hard enough.

Or maybe got distracted by something.

How could you have lost sight of your goal?

After all, you always followed the plan that you made.

But you should know that it wasn’t you.

In fact , it was me – Life.

Love, happiness and success

I saw you dream about all those things

And made sure that they came your way.

Just not how you had imagined them to be.

Because I wanted you to learn.

That the world’s this twisted place.

Where you need to rise above and move on

No matter how much it hurts

Or what you face

And I know that it wasn’t easy for you.

Believe me, I saw those tears that you tried to hide.

And even though you hated me back then

I stood there, right by your side

You kept asking me why I was so tough on you.

And told me that I was unfair.

You said that you wanted to give up.

And walk away, to somewhere.

I never answered.

Even though I really wanted to.

Because time stopped me –

I had to wait.

Till you reached to the point

Where you’re standing now.

And now that you’re here at last,

My silence finally breaks –

I spotted you, when we first met.

When you held my hand,

And took your first step.

You fell. But you would always get back up.

And I knew, right then.

That you were a diamond in making.

So here’s the truth –

I will always choose you.

So forgive me if I’m hard on you sometimes.

And know that it’s because you’re special to me.

Because I know that you have what it takes.

To become fierce and relentless.

Passionate, grateful and kind

Because I think you’re amazing

And superheroes like you

Are hard to find….

And sometimes its just about taking it all in – one breath at a time. Between all the craziness and uncertainty. Between the hope and the fear. Between what seems like the end and a what may be new beginning.

Its about sitting back and doing nothing for once. About not trying so hard. About letting it go, even when it feels like it’s worth holding on to. About accepting things as they are.

Its about keeping up the fight. Even when you think you don’t have what it takes. Even when it seems like you won’t ever be the same person again. Even when the odds aren’t in your favour.

Its about being grateful. Because you made it so far. Because your’e lucky enough to have another chance to give it a shot. Because you know that someone cares.

Its about celebrating the small wins.

About learning from every loss.

About growing.

About getting stronger.

And sometimes it can get hard to do all those things.

Between the chaos and the silence.

About everything that matters.

Even then, you must go on.

Because you deserve to get all that you’ve ever dreamed of.

Because each one of us has the power.

To make a choice – something that we forget.

And sometimes, a reminder is all that you need.

Don’t be afraid. Step back. Fight. Let go. Be happy. Don’t give up yet. Breathe.

Redemption At Last

1680

(Post inspired by “The Vampire Diaries”)

Where there was once faint smoke,

Now burnt a raging fire

That blazed his heart

And scorched his soul

Every time he closed his eyes

Images of her filled up his mind

Refusing to give up on him without putting up a fair fight

He had told her that he knew nothing about love,

Yet she had decided to challenge his greatest fear

Part of him laughed, thinking that she would lose

Part of him believed that she would find a way

And as he sat down in the bar that night

Sipping on his bourbon

All he could hear was

Sounds of her innocent laughter

Maybe there really was something left inside him.

Something that was worth fighting for.

Something that would give him a reason to flip his switch.

Some “shred of humanity” that his brother was always searching for.

The fire inside him continued to burn wildly.

His heart began to beat a little faster.

He finished his drink and closed his eyes again.

And once he opened them, he found peace.

She had saved him.

And now it was his turn.
