Just One Gaze

One could not miss her eyes,
Deep, piercing, dark blue,
Which spoke a language of their own,
Understood only by a few…

Sometimes filled with trust,
Sometimes hiding the truth,
Sometimes cold and weary,
Sometimes reflecting a fountain of youth…

Sometimes determined to achieve,
Sometimes giving only commands,
Sometimes lit by a spark of compassion,
Sometimes ready to give in to others’ demands…

Sometimes shining with hope,
Sometimes filled with distress,
Sometimes full of certainty,
Sometimes making a guess…

Sometimes filled with fire,
Sometimes as cool as the sea,
Sometimes enough to make one believe,
All that could not be…

Such was the magic
of her eyes
Deep, piercing, dark blue
Whose gentle gaze
one could not miss
Whose secret nobody knew…
